Beth's Genealogy Blog

7-25-06    I've decided to add a blog to the website.  I believe this blog will be beneficial to those visiting my site.  I can list updates to my pages and communicate more personally with my visitors. Besides, anyone who knows me knows how much I like to talk!   Today, I added page 4 to Valley Photographs.  These new photos are just a few from San Perlita that I took last week.  I also have some new photographs from the Renaud and Salazar families that I will be adding  soon.
I plan to be as faithful as possible to this blog, so that even if I don't have any new  information for the site, everyone can still read this and see what's going on with me. Please feel free to sign my guestbook or send me an e-mail.  Together, we can help  to further the genealogy and history of the Raymondville area.

7-26-06    I wanted to let everyone who has sent me corrections or additions to the database know that I will be updating it in the next few weeks.  It takes a bit of time to upload it each time I change anything,  so I am waiting until I have a few more names.
I just added the names of photos 1, 3 and 19 on the Unknown Photos pages.  Thanks, Michael, for identifying them.

8-27-06    Just added a photo of Chonita Rodriguez and Andres Renaud, and a photo of Maria Renaud to the Renaud Photo Page (photos courtesy of Mark Ortega).

9-2-06    Added two pages of family photographs. The link can be found on the Photo Index page. It is Arevalo/Renaud.  Also added Valley Photographs Page 5, which can be found under the link Valley Photographs.

11-11-06  I was notified by someone that many of my cemetery links have nothing on them. Oops! I will fix that as time allows. They will all have to be re-typed, which will take awhile. Until I am able to get the pages done, if you are looking for someone buried in one of these cemeteries, please e-mail me and I will see if I have the information.

11-12-06  Added Azadon and Los Potreros to cemetery pages today.

12-9-06  Added La Piedad One to cemetery page today.

1-23-07  Added list of restaurants and cafes in Raymondville in 1963. Also added Los Coyotes and El Paso Real on cemetery page.

1-24-07  Added Sebastian, Santa Rita, Tanquesito, la Bacerra, Tres Norias, La Piedad Two cemeteries to cemetery page. I think all I have left is the Lyford Cemetery. Will add as time permits.

1-26-07 Added Lyford Cemetery to cemetery page. Will be working on adding more names (from 1970 to present) to Raymondville Memorial, La Piedad One and La Piedad Two as time permits.

1-27-07  I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. There is an old cemetery in Raymondville, just  off of 77 just north of the Best Western Hotel. I am wondering if that cemetery is La Piedad Two. I know that La Piedad One is located at 10th and Durham, but I found the other cemetery and haven't been able to find out its
name. If anyone knows, please e-mail me. Thanks!

3-11-07  Thanks to Marisa for confirming La Piedad One. Today I added page 9 of Raymondville Memorial Cemetery.

4-13-07  Added three links to Tejano Roots page - El Toro Moro Lyrics, The Tree that was a Jail, and Raymondville Firsts..

5-16-07  I finally updated the database today. While I have added the new information contributed by members of several families in the database, there is at least one glitch. Someone sent me their name and their husband's name, which I added to my Family Origins program. This is the program which makes the database that I upload to the website. After uploading the updated database, I checked the new information. I found the husband and wife, but they are not  shown together. He is on the page with his surname, all by himself, with no link to his wife.  She is listed with her family, under her maiden name, but with no link to the husband. I have no earthly idea why  this happened. I typed them into Family Origins correctly as husband and wife. My apologies to anyone who finds a glitch like this. Maybe the next time I upload these one-hundred-twenty plus pages, they will decide to cooperate.  As great as computers are, sometimes they seem to have minds of their own...

5-31-07  In case you missed it on my homepage, I have a new e-mail address. It is:    thebethperez@gmail.com

5-26-08 Wow, it's been almost a year to the day since I entered anything on this blog. I have sadly neglected adding much to the website. I did add photos of the Wild in Willacy Festival back in November. The link is on the Tejano Roots page. I also just added a third page of Correa photographs, courtesy of Marisa Correa and Dodie de la Fuente. I have not been able to travel to the valley for quite awhile, but am planning to attend the Salazar family reunion in July. I'm really looking forward to going and also hope to come home with some great photos to add to the website.
