The Land of Rancho El Toro

On August 15, 1790, Jose Narciso Cavazos purchased one-hundred-thirty-two leagues of land
from the Spanish Crown at a public auction. He was the lone bidder, paying a total of $53.62.

Jose Manuel Cavazos inherited fourteen and two-thirds leagues upon the death of his father, Jose Narciso Cavazos. Following the deaths of other relatives, his share increased to sixteen and one-twentieth leagues.

Jose Manuel Cavazos sold four and one-half leagues to Juan Longoria y Garza.

Upon his death, the heirs of Juan Longoria y Garza sold the four and one-half leagues to Louis Renaud.

Rafaela Renaud & Dolores Renaud inherited one-fourth league each upon the death of their father, Louis Renaud.

On October 22, 1878, Rafaela Renaud sold her one-fourth league to Vicente Salazar.

On June 17, 1886, Dolores Renaud sold her one-fourth league to Vicente Salazar.

It was upon this one-half league of land that Vicente Salazar founded the Rancho El Toro.
